Noel Cafe Branding

— Logo, Loyalty Card, and Menu Design —

Overview

This was a branding project for a real cafe. This project included logo, loyalty card and menu design. Noel is a cafe that will open in this year in Korea by a friend of mine. Initially, he did not have a specific idea of what he wanted conceptually. He was only able to show me some pictures for reference, which were wooden architectural features, and a cozy and warm atmosphere. The cafe name, 'Noel', means 'born of Christmas', so we decided on the concept of 'Christmas'.

In order to show my client what the cup designs could look like with these logos, I mocked up take out cups using Adobe Dimension. The brand's primary colour is dark red, with a secondary colour of black. Because we kept the Christmas concept, using red was a natural choice. The secondary black was a preference of the client's, and went along well with the simple lined designs. As mentioned above, the curved lines of the logo extended well to wrap the cup.

I also mocked up several images for the cafe for the client. Thist first one was the store sign, using coffee tree leaves as a design element to hint at the idea of mistletoe.

Menu Design

Coffee Menu

My client wanted the menu design to be clean and simple. So I used only one san-serif font to ensure this simplicity, and the brand's primary red colour for the line elements. These line elements helped liven up the design.

Loyalty Card Design

Loyalty Card

The last piece that I was asked to design was a loyalty card, as they are quite common in Korea. This was laid out in Adobe InDesign and mocked up in Adobe Photoshop, with the stamp being a simplified 'N' from the logo.
